Tahir Ashrafi to play dinosaur’s egg in Jurassic World sequel

Tahir Ashrafi to play dinosaur’s egg in Jurassic World sequel
He will be the very thing that gives birth to the magnificent monster

Islamabad: Tahir Ashrafi   of the Pakistan Ulema Council spoke to media on Friday about the upcoming second installment of the Jurassic World franchise.
Pakistanis will be glad to hear that the religious leader was offered a part in the second movie, for which Chris Pratt has been confirmed already.
“The next movie is going to be bigger and better… and have more teeth!” he said jokingly while borrowing a line from the movie. Ashrafi will be playing a vital role in the next movie.
“The point of this movie was that they created this big, giant dinosaur and it was genetically engineered,” he said and added that the next needs a bigger bang to get the biggest amounts of bucks.
“The next movie is going to have the biggest dinosaur to have ever been discovered. I will be playing the role of the egg. I will be the very thing that gives birth to the magnificent monster,” he said while explaining his role.
“I have been offered the most important role of all,” he said.
Ashrafi will be leaving for filming in the next couple of months.
“I’ve been told to keep up my physique and I’m trying to improve it at the moment so that I can have a fuller more satisfying performance,” he said with a smile on his face.

Hackers Are Openly Selling Pakistani Mobile Phone Numbers Database

How depressing it can get if you come to know that your mobile phone number, home address, CNIC number and various other sensitive and private information is being sold online for just few pennies?
Yes, its not only depressing but utterly shocking to know the fact that there are few individuals who have compiled the data of millions of Pakistani mobile phone users and they are freely selling this database in the open over internet.

Each record in the leaked database includes individual name, CNIC, mobile phone number, home address, etc.

Available for just few thousand rupees, you just have to input the mobile phone number to get the entire details of any individual.
We are yet to ascertain the source of this leaked data or the organization that was responsible for the leak, but it in the hands of those hackers now who would re-sell this information for mere few thousands.
We are also not aware of the number of individuals who are enlisted in this database, but sellers claim that millions of Pakistani records are saved in the database.
Just if you are curious, individuals’ data can be retrieved by inputting mobile number, CNIC or address.
Here’s sneak preview of the details of Mr. Saad Rafique, a renowned politician, whose record was available in the leaked database:
Saad_Rafique
Mujahid Sheroze, who is directly aware of the individuals selling this database online — and who tipped us with the information — has committed to help law-enforcement agencies to get the culprits behind the bars.
Mujahid said that he’s willing to help LEAs in any capacity to make sure that such sensitive data is not only secured, but those who are selling it are made an example for any future outlawry.
We have repeatedly emphasized about web security and the need for hardening our private and government sector web-servers. This data leak is apparently the result of a poor security, be it the web security or other data security measures that our organizations employ to protect data.
We assume that this will get only more serious with time — just imagine if banking records are made online someday — and we have to start taking our data security more seriously before our next nightmare is realized in-front of our eyes.

India-Pakistan Solar Energy Race? Desert Solar Park among world’s Largest

Pakistan’s first large-scale solar power project, the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park project, was recently inaugurated by Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, representing one of the country’s first clear steps towards renewable energy.
The project is expected to start generating 100 MW of power by the end of the year, and 1,000 MW by the end of 2016 (when “complete”). The project comprises 400,000 solar panels and was built for a cost of about $131 million. Once completed, the project will generate around 2.5 times the power that the massive 392 MW Ivanpah solar-thermal plant in California does — making it one of the largest solar projects in the world.

The project might end up being a fair bit bigger than even that, though. After the inauguration, the Prime Minister immediately approved the expansion of the project — up to 1,500 MW capacity and 15,000 acres of coverage.
“If you come here after one and a half years, you will see a river of solar panels, residential buildings and offices — it will be a new world,” stated site engineer Muhammad Sajid, pointing towards the surrounding desert.
ClimateProgress provides context on why the project is important:
This is big news for a country suffering from chronic energy shortages that leave people without power for large chunks of the day on a regular basis. And then there’s the nearly half of the households that aren’t even connected to the grid, according to a World Bank study. When temperatures soar in the summer, electricity demand can fall short by around 4,000 MW.
The Prime Minister struck much the same note during the inauguration, having stated: “The dearth of electricity has pushed the country backwards and its entire industry and agriculture sector have suffered immensely.”
And the country is certainly well-suited to solar energy development — the only thing really in the way has been a lack of funding, something that’s been changing, as we’ve covered.
Back when this project was announced last year, it was noted that the project was intended to “overcome” the emerging energy crisis in the heavily populated state of Punjab. That’s what will be interesting to observe in this situation. In an environment like Pakistan’s, with an electrical grid like Pakistan’s, with a political situation like Pakistan’s, how effectively can a large-scale solar power project address energy issues? Can it do so at all? To some degree, but less so than smaller, decentralized systems could? Will the project become a target for anti-government militias or those looking to destabilize the region?

There are a lot of interesting questions with regard to the project. Some things to keep in mind.

Another Clearly Photoshopped Picture Makes it to Jang Newspaper #Fail

08 09 Another Clearly Photoshopped Picture Makes it to Jang Newspaper #Fail
Jang news has published an allegedly photoshopped picture from Karachi appeared yesterday on back-page of Jang’s Karachi edition that has irked many professionals around the country.
The picture shows some officials, including Mr. Mustafa Kamal, posing as administering a water clean-up activity after recent rainfalls in Karachi.
Have a close look at the picture above; actually you don’t have to look too closely to see the photoshopped changes in the picture. What is disturbing is that they did not even put any effort into making the photoshopped picture; anyone can easily figure out that this is a fake picture.

Maybe people running the publication feel that we as a nation are so ignorant, brainless, and dim that we can believe everything that is put our way.
There is a lot of false information circulated in our country everyday and we do tend to believe most of it blindly; but at least others respect our intelligence and spend a lot of resources to foul us.
This alleged Photoshopped picture, however, is a blatant attempt to undermine our intellect and aptitude.
It is advised to all publications that if you want to fool the nation at least do not insult us by offering such obvious fake stories. This nation has been played with enough times so now anyone looking to trick and deceive the people of this nation should think twice before proceeding with such false claims.

General Pervez Musharraf a Major Save Khana-e-Kaaba Attack in 1979

1979 Pakistan Army SSG Commandos Headed by General Pervez Musharraf . Then a Major Save Khana-e-Kaaba Attack

An elite unit of Pakistan Army SSG Commandos called “Rahbar” of the SSG headed by Col Tariq Mahmood a distiguished SSG Commander who later was killed as ONE STAR General. According to another source this pakistani unit are headed by General Pervez Musharraf (then a Major), who would later become the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan Army and the President of Pakistan, the commando battalion of the Pakistan Army.& as another one more source Unit leader is Flt. Lt Ali Salman of Pakistan Air force. He mobilized the SSG commandos were rushed to Mecca from Pakistan on Saudi Government’s request.. The SSG commandos were rushed to Mecca from Pakistan on Saudi Government’s request. In the middle of the day, Saudi troops abseiled from helicopters directly into the central courtyard of the mosque. The Saudi soldiers were picked off by insurgents holding superior positions. After failure of this exercise, Pakistani SSG Commandos split/showered the water allover the Grand Masjid floors even in Minarets. This situation was very surprising for the insurgents that what was going to be happen next. On having water all over the floors of the Grand Masjid, Pak Army Commandos released the electric current in the water and insurgent suspended their activities and start changing their positions to save them from the electric shocks. During this Pak Army Commandos were dropped by helicopters into the Grand Masjid in different locations and they easily captured many of the insurgents alive.
The insurgents aired their demands from the mosque’s loudspeakers, calling for the cutoff of oil exports to the United States and the expulsion of all foreign civilian and military experts from the Arabian Peninsula. On 25 November, the Arab Socialist Action Party – Arabian Peninsula issued a statement from Beirut alleging to clarify the demands of the insurgents. The party, however, denied any involvement of its own in the seizure.
Officially, the Saudi government took the position of not aggressively taking the mosque, but rather to starve the militants. Nevertheless, but rather to starve the militants. Nevertheless, several unsuccessful assaults were undertaken, at least one of them through the underground tunnels in and around the mosque.
By 27 November, most of the mosque was retaken by the Saudi National Guard and the Army, though they suffered heavy casualties in the assault. In the catacombs under the mosque, however, several militants continued to resist and tear gas was used to force them out. Several of the top militants escaped the siege and days later sporadic fighting erupted in other parts of the city in trying to capture them.
The battle had lasted more than two weeks, and had officially left “255 pilgrims, troops and fanatics” killed and “another 560 injured … although diplomats suggested the toll was higher.” Military casualties were 127 dead and 451 injured.

What is Fake SMS Sender and How to Trace it?

VGB Fake SMS Sender What is Fake SMS Sender and How to Trace it?Sending fake SMS messages from someone’s mobile number without his/her knowledge or consent, a term that is technically known as SMS Spoofing, is an old phenomenon. We were tipped by multiple readers about the availability of such SMS faking software in local market, however we then decided not to carry the news as it could aware the fraudsters of a new technique of fooling people.
Dunya News, however, carried this news yesterday by claiming that a new system has been introduced in Pakistan through which anyone can send text messages with a number ID of his/her choice.
Dunya TV said that this new system, which it dubbed as “Evil Mobile Software”, will allow anyone to send text messages from any mobile number which can cause serious privacy and social threats for anyone, especially the girls.
Since the news has reached the masses now, we thought of telling our readers a way of tracing spoofed messages through which you can prove that messages (with your number as sender) were indeed not sent by you.

What Fake SMS Sender can do?

By definition, with a spoofed SMS or faked SMS sender the originator of text message can set sender’s number of his/her choice, making it possible for anyone to send text messages from any number.
For example, with Fake SMS sender I can send an SMS which will show sender’s number as 0300-0000000, or I can set sender’s name as “ProPakistani” or anything.
This technology is used to send masked messages with alphanumeric names such as: Ufone, Warid, QAU, GIKI and so on.

        How These Software Work?

All these software available in local market use services of international vendors for sending fake text messages. Countless international companies offer SMS masking to their clients who use their brand names as message sender in their marketing campaigns.
Few evil geniuses in Pakistan have developed desktop applications (they have named it VBG Fake SMS Sender) which can send text messages with any senders’ number by using network of these international SMS vendors (through APIs).
These local fraudsters are now selling Fake SMS senders by posting ads on classified websites to mint money, which is of course illegal.

        How to Trace Fake SMS?

If you are victim of Fake SMS, i.e. if someone has sent text messages with your number with objectionable content then you need not to worry.
There’s a way of proving that message wasn’t sent from your number and that it is a Fake Message.
There are two ways to trace a Fake SMS:
1 – SMS center number of any spoofed message or fake message will be an international number, such as +445566776654 or +22XXXXXX or anything but not a Pakistani number (Pakistani numbers start with +92).
The SMS Message Center Number is a phone number that acts as a gateway for sending or receiving SMS messages between cellular devices. Since spoofed messages are sent by International vendors only, it is likely that SMS center number of a spoofed message will be an international number.
If you don’t know, SMS center number of a text message can be found by going in to message details.
For all messages that are legitimately originated from Pakistani networks will have following SMS center numbers:
        • For Mobilink Numbers: +92300000042
        • For Ufone Numbers: +923330005150
        • For Zong Numbers: +923189244444
        • For Telenor Numbers: +923455000010
2 – If you are a victim of Fake SMS then you can prove it wrong by obtaining your call detail from your cellular company. Almost all cellular companies (except Mobilink) offer online call detail records or you can obtain this list for respective service centers of mobile phone companies.
Spoofed message or Fake SMS will not appear in your call record, since it was never sent using your cellular network. Hence you can prove that a particular message was not sent by you or your number.

What Law Enforcement Agencies Should do?

Very simple, search on Google for those selling these VGB Fake SMS sending software. Call them as customers and get their contact details to hunt them down.
Furthermore they can contact classified websites to get these ads removed from their websites.

        What You Should Do?

Spread the word, educate your FnF the ways of tracing a fake message. Report fraudsters to police or NR3C.

Confirmed: Pakistan to Auction Three 3G and Two 4G Licenses in April

3G Pakistan Confirmed: Pakistan to Auction Three 3G and Two 4G Licenses in April
Exactly like we reported yesterday, Government of Pakistan has announced that it will hold auctions for 3G and 4G licences this April.
The proposal that was submitted by 3G consultants  – has been approved by Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Ishaq Dar, the Finance Minister, while speaking with media personals confirmed that government has decided to go with simultaneous auction of three 3G and two 4G licenses by April 2014.
Mr. Dar confirmed that a 3G license of 10Mhz block from 2100Mhz band will cost $295 million, while a 4G license of 10Mhz from 1800Mhz band is priced at $210 million.
Dar said the government would be looking for full payment, or a 50 per cent payment with the rest to be paid in five equal instalments over five years, with an interest rate of three per cent.

More details about the auction are likely to get revealed in the Information Memorandum that is likely to surface with-in couple of weeks.
Mr. Dar said that consultants will now finalize the draft for IM after the approvals from Prime Minister.
Experts have welcomed government’s decision for auctioning 4G spectrum as well.
While it is valid that operators might see 4G spectrum not viable at this point in time. However Pakistan offers undeniable potential to first mover in 4G services with over 97 percent population that is currently without any broadband.
With auctioning of 4G licenses, Pakistan will rank amongst the couple of dozen countries that currently have 4G services, against over 160 countries that have already 3G networks working there.
Not to forget that 3G networks might not offer more than 2Mbps speeds to end users, while 4G operators can offer upto 100Mbps speeds on their networks.

WhatsApp founder Brian Acton was rejected by Facebook for a job

IT WAS a multibillion dollar vindication for WhatsApp founder Brian Acton. Mr Acton’s company was acquired by Facebook yesterday for $US16 billion but it could have all been a lot cheaper for Mark Zuckerberg. If only he hadn’t rejected Mr Acton five years ago.
In 2009, after he left a senior engineering gig at Yahoo, Acton applied for a position at Facebook, only to be turned down. He left this message on Twitter:
But Facebook wasn’t the only one to reject Mr Acton. Twitter also said thanks-but-no-thanks.
Failing to secure a position at the two mammoth social firms, Mr Acton teamed up with Jan Koum to start up WhatsApp that same year. Yesterday, Mr Zuckerberg forked out an unprecedented $US16 billion in cash and stock, plus a further $US3 billion in restricted stock, to buy WhatsApp, which has one of the fastest user growth rates.
Mr Acton has approximately 20% equity in WhatsApp and is personally expected pocket about $US3 billion, according to Forbes .
An expensive lesson for Facebook’s HR department.

Breaking: Pakistan's 3G Auction Plan Revealed, Base Price Set at $295 Million, 4G On Sale Too!

3G IM Breaking: Pakistans 3G Auction Plan Revealed, Base Price Set at $295 Million, 4G On Sale Too!
A photographer of Associated Press of Pakistan today unintentionally (read mistakenly) revealed government’s plan for auctioning 3G and 4G licenses.
While everyone is waiting for the IM, here’s what we have already found through a snap — published above — that was pictured during today’s top level meeting between 3G Advisory Committee and Anusha Rehman, Minister for IT and Telecom and Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister.
Luckily picture’s angle fully revealed the most important slide of presentation that 3G consultants were giving to Anusha Rehman and Mr. Ishaq Dar.
Here are the highlights for 3G Auction:
        • Government has plans to auction 30 Mhz from 2100Mhz spectrum while another 20Mhz in 1800 Mhz spectrum, with a block size of 10Mhz
        • Buyer of 1800 Mhz block will have to buy at least one block from 2100Mhz
        • License buyers will have to pay at least 50% upfront
        • Bidding will be sealed in the first phase. Second round bidding would be open.
        • License will be granted for a duration of 15 years
        • Base price:
          • 2100 Mhz: 295 Million dollars per 10Mhz block
          • 1800 Mhz: 210 Million dollars per 10Mhz block
This is what consultants for 3G – hired by PTA – have proposed the government, as evidently they are presenting the plan to the Anusha Rehman, Minister of Information Technology and Mr. Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister of Pakistan.
Consultants are now just waiting for government’s nod to finalize the IM for the public release by first week of next month.
Not to forget, this plan is not final and there might be a change in the base price or even the blocks that are on sale.
A good sign is that spectrum from 1800Mhz is put for auction as well.
Through sources we have heard that government might take-back the decision of auctioning 1800 Mhz spectrum, just to sell it at a later time.
However, moving forward, for the betterment of country it is extremely vital to auction 4G spectrum right away.
This will not only pave a way for the next gen broadband services in the country but in fact this can turn out to be an historic decision as move is likely to put Pakistan back into the top runners – regionally and globally – in telecom services and offerings.
Again, above mentioned plan is not final – however, it is very likely that these details may remain intact in the IM.

By Madiha  Javed from Wah Cantt
Pakistan’s call centre industry has established itself to be one of the most popular and successful sector of the country. The reason behind this success is that it has created vast employment opportunities for youngsters who have very little or no work experience and skills.
In a country like Pakistan, where unemployment rate is high, such job opportunities are bound to be welcomed by job seeking individuals.
Fresh graduates take this opportunity as sunshine towards a bright future. Call centre jobs are easily accessible and act as a good starter to generate income. If you have strong communication skills and feel you can talk to people over the phone with authority and confidence then that’s all what you need to get a job with a call centre.
Once you get the job things look quite exiting. Till the trainings are undergone it remains a fun, but once that’s over the real work begins. It does get boring and frustrating in a few weeks as you start the routine of answering one call after the other. Especially when most of the times customers are calling in to abuse you over different issues including balance deduction without his/her knowledge, network issues and so on.
When you are unemployed and get a chance to work at a BPO, your communication skills are enhanced and you learn tactics to handle calls efficiently, but still when the pros and cons are compared, its long term benefits are far less.
The repetitive nature of most call centres can be both good and bad simultaneously. If you’re feeling down and don’t want to go to work any day, the repetition can help you as you will not have to put in too much effort in your work. The negative side is that, at some point you will get bored of the monotonous nature of the BPO or call center industry.
I still remember the days when I worked at a call center and used to come home after work. I simply hated answering calls from anyone or even seeing someone’s name appear on my cell phone’s screen. I became rude, irritated, and began hating myself. There were severe impacts on my family life and I had to practically abandon my friends circle.
Job seekers take this opportunity as a first step towards the corporate world, but unfortunately only a few actually end up successfully shifting to a better job; most of them remain stuck in this job forever.
Long hours of work, permanent night shifts, incredibly high work targets and loss of identity are amongst some of the major factors adversely affecting the lives of employees affiliated with the call center industry in Pakistan.
The nature of work in call centers is such that an agent is made to work on a chair, continuously for nine hours, whereby he/she is forced to read a pre-scripted document at the start of a call for every customer. This tedious routine literary made me a psycho, insomniac, and rude individual with a disturbing my life as a whole. It’s one of the looniest jobs in the world as you are surrounded by your colleagues and friends constantly talking on the phone in 8 to 9 hour long shifts, with just 15 minute tea breaks and 30 minute lunch breaks in between.
This frustration, tension and depressive nature of a call centre job is driving our youth into adoption of unusual and abnormal behaviours and poses a serious threat to the society and is weakening our roots and culture.
In my opinion, the worst part about working at a call centre is the overly strict rules and regulations. Generally, if you are more than a few minutes late you receive a negative ‘point’. If you get a certain number of ‘points’ you will be fired instantly regardless of how good you are at your job.
In some cases things are even worse than words can describe. I myself worked at a call centre of a cellular company in Pakistan and I and was deprived of any employee benefits besides my salary. In addition to this, we were also dispossessed of basic employee rights, for instance, we were not given a single penny for working on public holidays. Taking a day off even for medical reasons is an uphill task there.
We worked in 9 hour long shifts and were given just a single day off after 6 days of work which is extremely tough; other call centers generally give at least two days off weekly.
It is indeed a challenging job that requires tackling different customers which include good, bad, abusive, moody and at times aggressive clients. You require a tactful approach to address the needs and issues of the customer.
A lot of sacrifice and commitment is required from an agent to work during night shifts and to alter his/her life to adapt to a new lifestyle; hence I salute all CSO’s (Customer Support Officers) for adjusting to such a tough lifestyle.
One year work experience with this industry is enough. A CSO gets far away from his social life and develops habits of rudeness and frustration in life. A CSO requires a lot of patience even when a customer is annoying and using abusive language. You end up taking out this frustration in your life outside your work place which impacts your relationship with your friends and family; please keep in mind that no job is worth more than these closely knit relationships.
Opting for a job in a call centre might not be the best job in the world, but it is better than being unemployed and sitting at home. However, I sincerely request youngsters not to consider it as a long term carrier.

Site selection process underway for more nuclear power plants in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Feb 3 (APP): KANUPP I and KANUPP II will lay the foundation of more large size nuclear power plants and the process of site selection for future plants is going on.

PAEC Director Ghulam Rasool Athar said this while addressing a workshop arranged by PAEC for the media here, to give them orientation about basics of nuclear technology, nuclear power production in Pakistan, radioactivitiy and its effects.

Ghulam Rasool said, “The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) will move on to produce 42,000MW electricity by the year 2050.” He said with the passage of time, indigenization was increasing. He said when KANUPP I was commissioned, Pakistan was only the 15th country in the world to commission a nuclear power plant.

“Embargoe was imposed in 1976, but Pakistan kept the plant operational through self-reliance.” Fuel and spare parts were prepared within the country.

Talking about radiation, Advisor PAEC Ahmad Talat said radiation had always been a part of natural environment. When life began on earth, radiation levels were much higher than today. “Most of the radiation dose that we receive from artificial sources, comes from medical applications, and only a tiny fraction originates from the nuclear power industry.”

Responding to a question about emergency situation in case of any mishap, Director Engineering  PAEC Dr Khawar Naveed said the emergency classification system had been defined by Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA), based on International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) guidelines.

He said emergency plans for each nuclear power plant were prepared by the PAEC and approved by the PNRA. Emergency plans are  updated periodically and tested in emergency exercises under the supervision of the PNRA, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, PAEC Chairman Dr Ansar Parvez rejected all the concerns regarding safety of nuclear programme. “By the Grace of Allah, the programme is in safe hands.”

He said the first nuclear unit at Chashma, imported from China, had beenworking efficiently for the past 14 years and the second one  also doing equally well for more than two years.

“Construction of two more units is proceeding smoothly and is several months ahead of schedule,” he added.

MohenjoDaro may not exist after the Sindh Festival gets done with it!

While the sentiments of the Sindh Festival’s organisers are applauded for trying to bring the world’s attention to our history, it reflects poorly on their judgment and that of the authorities to allow such an event to proceed at this fragile heritage site. PHOTO: FILE
They say a picture speaks a thousand words. Sometimes, those words carry a sense of agony and irony.  Such was the case when I came across a picture depicting the historic mound of MohenjoDaro, surrounded by wooden scaffolding and construction crews.
My first reaction was to do a double take.
I thought I surely had been mistaken for why would anyone allow such an archaeological wonder to go under the proverbial knife and in such a daring fashion?
Upon reading the associated article, I was informed that preparations were afoot to hold the opening ceremony of the Sindh Festival at this heritage site. The festival is a Bilawal Bhutto led initiative which seeks to highlight the social and cultural heritage of the province. In this case, however, the event directly poses a serious threat to the stability of one of the world’s most valuable archaeological treasures.
MohenjoDaro, or Mound of the Dead, is considered ground zero when it comes to the study of Indus Valley Civilisation. Situated approximately 400km north of Karachi, the site was discovered by accident when archaeologist R D Banerji initiated a dig in 1922 to explore the visible Buddhist stupa and monastery in the area. What happened next stunned the world as the expedition revealed one of the world’s first modern cities. It contained dug wells for accessing clean drinking water, unheard of in civilisations dating back over 4000 years.
MohenjoDaro before and after the preparations. Photo: AFP
The wastewater systems, that a significant portion of South Asia lacks today, comprised effluent drains built with brick masonry that ran along unpaved streets.  Sir John Marshall, the then Director General of the Archaeological Department of India, remarked in a book that,
“Never for a moment was it imagined that five thousand years ago, even before the Aryans were heard of, the Panjab (sic) and Sind, if not other parts of India, were enjoying an advanced and singularly uniform civilisation of their own, closely akin but in some respects even superior to that of contemporary Mesopotamia and Egypt.”
MohenjoDaro before and after the preparations. Photo: AFP
Nearly a century later, we are still not even half way through exploring the wonders of MohenjoDaro. The archaeologists have taken care not to rush into further exploration since the structures are vulnerable to even the changes in moisture present in the air, among other factors.
Efforts to stabilise the brick structures have run into problems.
Dr Asma Ibrahim, a leading Pakistani archaeologist, ensures that the way things are going, this heritage site will completely disappear in 20 years due to decay.
It is in this context that I find hosting the event on the grounds of MohenjoDaro baffling. Any changes, however minor, to the façade of the site are magnified many times over in the context of its archaeological importance. There is no doubt that installation of light fixtures, scaffolding for a staging area and influx of large number of people will do irreparable damage to the site.

Pakistan has passed a number of legislations protecting such archaeological treasures, not the least of which is the Antiquities Act of 1975. The environmental legislation also calls for a detailed impact assessment whenever such activities are undertaken at protected heritage sites. There is no reason to believe that any such assessment was undertaken by the organisers. Indeed, the authorities, themselves, seem to be the enablers in this instance.

Additionally, and perhaps more importantly, MohenjoDaro is one of the six sites in Pakistan that fall under UNESCO’s World Heritage List and are considered to be of ‘outstanding universal value’.

While the sentiments of the Sindh Festival’s organisers are applauded for trying to bring the world’s attention to our history, it reflects poorly on their judgment and that of the authorities to allow such an event to proceed at this fragile heritage site.

There are a number of other ways that can be used to celebrate the value of our heritage.
Mr Bhutto could have initiated a plan to highlight such heritage through changes in the curriculum. He could have used some of the funds received for this event to develop a television documentary on our collective heritage.
In holding this event at MohenjoDaro, in disregard of relevant laws, Mr Bhutto would find that it would cease to be a cultural event and would be seen as a political stunt.

Pakistan is home to many historic and environmental treasures. We just choose to ignore them at our own peril.

The intelligence community of Pakistan, which was once described by the "Frontier Post" of Peshawar (May 18,1994) as its "invisible government" and by the "Dawn" of Karachi (April 25,1994) as "our secret godfathers" consists of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the ISI.  While the IB comes under the Interior Minister, the ISI is part of the Ministry of Defence (MOD).  Each wing of the Armed Forces has also its own intelligence directorate for tactical MI.

The Directorate for Inter-Services Intelligence (also Inter-Services Intelligence or ISI) is the largest intelligence service in Pakistan. It is one of the three main branches of Pakistan's intelligence agencies. This is the 1st line of defense and all employees are the defenders of nations working like a solid metallic wall against the enemies. The intelligence officers, who are mostly hired from the three armed forces, (i.e. Pak Army, Pak Air-force & Pak Navy) are very much loyal and devoted to their people and country. They know how to tackle and handle the threats and the enemies of the nation very efficiently. They put Country/Nation first and Organization before self. Their all actions and deeds are based on the Teachings of Islam, Faith, Discipline, Unity, Truth, and uphold the highest standards of conduct.

ISI is one of the best and very well organized, top ranking intelligence agency in the world. This organization is working under a predefined constitutional and legal frame work and who’s GD (Director General/Head - Lt. Gen) is completely answerable in front of the Head of the state and some times and in some cases in front of the Chief of the Army Staff.

        Formation

The ISI is staffed mainly by personnels deputed from the police, Para-military forces and some specialized units of the Army such as Signals and SSG (Commandos). There are more than and over 25,000 active men on its staff. This figure does not include informants and assets

        Headquarter

ISI is headquartered in Aabpara, Islamabad on Shahrah-e-Soharwardi and works under a Director General, a serving Lieutenant General of the Pakistan Army.
              WINGS:
Internal wing - Dealing with counter-intelligence and political issues inside Pakistan.

External wing - Handling with external issues, and Analysis.

Foreign Relations wing – Managing the affairs out side the Pakistan

        History

After independence in 1947, and to safe guard the real national interests the two new intelligence agencies were created in Pakistan: the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Military Intelligence (MI). The Inter-Services Intelligence was created as an independent unit in 1948 in order to strengthen the performance of Pakistan's Military Intelligence with the coordination with in the all three forces. ISI was formerly in the Intelligence Bureau (IB), which handled intelligence sharing between the different branches of the military as well as external intelligence gathering. Its headquarters was initially located in Rawalpindi but later it was moved to Islamabad at Shahrah-e-Soharwardi.
Since beginning ISI had a perfect positive path and vision to safe guard the nation in every aspect. Its foundations were strong and its scope was very wide, clear and fascinating. In 1950 it was officially given the task to safe guard Pakistani interests and national security inside and outside the country. After playing the magnificent role and achieving almost all the difficult and impossible tasks in the war between Pakistan and India in 1965.
“Gen. Ayub Khan” appointed “Yahya Khan” to chair a committee for the re-evaluation of this newly born ISI and its subdivisions to expand its scope due to its magnification performance. Gen. Ayub Khan entrusted the ISI with the responsibility for the collection of internal and external intelligence in all over the Pakistan. Later on, during the Baloch nationalist revolt in Balochistan in the mid 1970s, the ISI was tasked with performing a similar intelligence gathering operation.

After General Zia ul-Haq came into power in July 1977, the scope of ISI was more expanded by making it responsible for the collection of intelligence about all the Anti-Pakistani separatist parties specially those who were struggling for the division and separate land and which were provoked by the neighboring enemies.

The Soviet-Afghan war of the 1980s saw the enhancement of the covert action capabilities of the ISI with the support of U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). A special Afghan Section was created under the command of Colonel Mohammed Yousaf to oversee the coordination of the war. A number of officers from the ISI's Covert Action Division were specially trained by the Pakistani Army and ISI to guide it in its operations against the Soviet troops by using the Afghan Mujahideen. From 1983 to 1997, the ISI reportedly trained over 80,000 Afghan Mujahideen for campaigns in Afghanistan Jihad. At that time and under the leadership of one of the most famous generals and patriots,
“Gen. Akhtar Abdur Rehman Shaheed” played a vital role to strengthen this organization. During the 1990s, the ISI grew into a powerful and questionable organization for the enemies of our beloved nation Pakistan.

After wining the afghan war and distributing the super power of that time in to smaller countries, the activities of the ISI became restricted and they were engaged again back to their core responsibilities of the internal and external security of Pakistan.

        Structure

The Chief Of Army Staff of Pakistan Army, led the appointment of the director, but the official confirmation needed from the President, with a consultation from the Prime Minister. The headquarters of the ISI are situated in Islamabad, Islamabad Capital Territory. It is currently headed by Lieutenant-General Ahmad Shuja Pasha, who took over as ISI's Director Generalship in September 2008.

        Methods of Intelligence

        Information Collection:
The working style and strategy of ISI is totally very much different from the all other agencies of different countries, it has the latest techniques with state of the art technology to full fill their objectives and to ensure the safety of our beloved nation. The collection of information from different means and assets is a part of the other techniques and plays an important role in that.
        Collaboration with other agencies:
ISI maintains active collaboration with other secret services in various countries. Its contacts are with Chinese Intelligence, the American CIA and British MI6 have been well-known.
         Third Country Technique:
ISI has been active in obtaining information and operating through third countries like Afghanistan, Nepal, the United Kingdom, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Iran, Turkey and China.

        Recruitment and training

Both civilians and members of the armed forces can join the ISI. For civilians, recruitment is advertised and is jointly handled by the Federal Public Services Commission (FPSC) and civilian ISI agents are considered employees of the Ministry of Defense. The FPSC conducts various examinations testing the candidate's knowledge of current affairs, English and various analytical abilities. Based on the results, the FPSC shortlists the candidates and sends the list to the ISI who conduct the initial background checks. The selected candidates are then invited for an interview which is conducted by a joint committee comprising both ISI and FPSC officials.

        Career

        Civilians:
Those candidates who passed the interview then have to go through rigorous fitness, medical and psychological evaluations. Once the candidate clears these evaluations, the ISI performs a very thorough background check on the candidate before being offered to join the ISI. Security clearance is granted once the candidate accepts the offer. Recruited agents then go to the Inter-Services Intelligence School for basic training following which they are employed on an initial one year probationary period. However, civilian operatives are not allowed to rise above the equivalent of the rank of Major and are mostly assigned to JIX, JIB and JCIB departments and the rest of the departments are solely headed by the armed forces but there have been rare cases in which civilians have been assigned to those departments.
        Armed Forces:
For the armed forces, officers have to apply for admission into the Inter-Services Intelligence School. After finishing the intelligence course, they can apply to be posted in Field Intelligence Units or in the directorate of Military/Air/Naval intelligence. Then they wait and hope that their performance is good enough to be invited to the ISI for a temporary posting. Based on their performance in the military and the temporary posting with ISI, they are then offered a more permanent position.
Senior ISI officers with ranks of Major and above are assigned to the ISI for no more than only two to three years to curtail the attempt to abuse their power. Almost all of the Director-Generals of the ISI have never served in the organization before being appointed by the military commanders to lead it. ISI also monitors former, current and retired military officers who at one point or another held sensitive positions and had access to classified data. However in some special circumstances officers with outstanding achievements are given an extended appointment and even a lifetime (till 60 years of age)    job.

ISI Tops 10 Best Intelligence Agencies In The World:
Topping the Top Ten? "ISI for sure,' says Gren, "No double agents, no agent ever caught on camera, the lowest budget but still affective. In war with 6 big intelligence agencies of the world. ISI has even countered MOSSAD in the 1980s and late '90s when there was a plan of a possible strike on Pakistan's nukes."

"It has to be the ISI" says John Smith on the Web site. "It broke down the Soviet Union (which also led to the reunification of Germany; the German Intelligence Chief gave a piece of the Berlin Wall to the Pakistani Intel Chief with a plaque under it saying, 'To the one who struck the first blow'), has protected and developed the country's nuclear assets against all odds, has defeated Al Qaeda/Taliban especially these days with the capture of Baradar, etc. by the ISI, has deep ingress into India. No other agency matches it in efficiency, precision, discipline and professionalism."

        Objectives

Every state apparatus requires intelligence agencies, and Pakistan is no different. ISI is the nation’s invisible 1st line of defense. The intelligence officers, who are mostly hired from all the three armed forces, of the said organization are very much loyal and devoted to their people and country. They know how to tackle and handle the threats and the enemies of the nation very efficiently. They put Country/Nation first and Agency before self. Their all actions and deeds are based on the Teachings of ISLAM, Faith, Discipline, Truth, and uphold the highest standards of conduct.

        Error-eta

Main objective of this organization is to keep the Pakistan on safe and right track, and still the people of the Pakistan have the blind faith on this noble organization. There are some of the other groups of regimes which are accusing ISI, but all these acquisitions are only based on the Anti-Pakistani Propaganda. The main culprit behind these all propagandas is India who has been playing different games since 1947 and trying to capture the attention of the world through cheap measures. But Masha-Allah and AlhamdoliAllah they are still trying and will keep on trying without success and these defenders of nations and silent soldiers will keep going on INSHALLAH.
One of the purposes of this web site is to negate all the negative impressions and to answer all the questions which are in the mind of those people who don’t know actually and exactly what the ISI is, why it was founded and what they are doing.
There is a spread of misinformation by the Western and Indian media on internet and the role of ISI is presented as an organization, which is:

        • Manipulating or involved in the politics of the country.
        • Which is supporting the Extremist and Islamist Organizations.
        • Which is interfering in the internal affairs of neighboring countries e.g. India and Afghanistan.
        • ISI fought a PROXY WAR against the Soviet Union, they were fighting for the Single Super Power.
        • It is said that the ISI is a “State With In A State”

This all nonsense and rubbish is the part of the Anti-Pakistani propaganda. We would request the readers to condemn all the propaganda, which is against the Pakistan and the Assets of Pakistan. This is our national obligation and responsibility from which no one can deny. The whole world should understand that the enemies of  our beloved nation are trying to damage and destroy the image of the nation as well as they are making the false pictures of its defenders, which is totally unacceptable for the Pakistanis. We know that until the ISI is there and the help of ALLAH, no one can harm is from inside and outside, whether it is an enemy or a friend acting as enemy.
This is a “Tribute” to our Silent Soldiers and defenders of nation…
        .
        May ALLAH bless us All…

        Goals & Missions

The main Mission of ISI is to collect the intelligence data through different means and to safeguard the national interests. The job is to identify and block the threats to the state and its citizens, and to reinforce the country's security and safety according to the teachings of Islam and the constitution.

The ISI was structured to be manned by officers from the three main military services, and to specialize in the collection, analysis and assessment of external intelligence, either military or non-military. At first, the ISI focused primarily on domestic espionage, such as tapping telephone conversations and monitoring internal political affairs and these all activities were same like other agencies of different countries, in which those were already involved.

Now its primary objectives are not only to safeguard the National Security and Pakistani interests, but also, reinforcing Pakistani power base in the region. Other responsibilities includes, monitoring the political and military developments in adjoining countries, which hafve direct bearing on Pakistan's national security and in the formulation of its foreign policy and to collect foreign and domestic intelligence in such cases. Co-ordination of intelligence functions of the three military services and to keep vigilant surveillance over its cadre, foreigners, the media, politically active segments of Pakistani society, and diplomats of other countries accredited to Pakistan and Pakistani diplomats serving outside the country.

This honorable organization known as “ISI” is really very sincere and loyal to country and performs such heroic silent deeds like You normally used to hear in your daily lives, historical stories and war magazines. May ALLAH keep blessing on Pakistan.
